Each time an Interaction is opened or captured using the Interaction Designer, the system automatically checks whether any system variables used in that Interaction have been affected by changes done in the Admin Console. If there is a mismatch between new and previous values, the Variables Update popup opens. This window alerts the designer about new, updated, and deleted system variables.

Solving Variable Conflicts

The Conflicted Variables frame, at the bottom of the Variables Update popup, lists conflicts between the new variable set and variables that are used in the Interaction. The following conditions generate conflicts:

  • A new or updated variable has the same name as a user variable in the Interaction. To solve the conflict, a new name for the variable in use must be defined.
  • A variable that is used in the Interaction has been deleted in the Admin Console. To solve the conflict, a new name for the variable in use must be defined.

Variable conflicts may be solved either manually or automatically. You will not be able to open or capture the Interaction until all conflicts are resolved.

To solve conflicts manually:

  1. In the Conflicted Variables frame, click Solve.
The Variable Conflict - Solve popup opens.

  2. Enter a name for the variable, and then click OK.
The Solved icon IconSolved appears in the row of the variable.
  3. To resolve the remaining conflicts, repeat Steps 1-2.
When all conflicts are solved, the OK button is enabled.
  4. To close the popup and continue with opening/capturing the Interaction, click OK.

To solve conflicts automatically:

  1. In the upper right corner of the Conflicted Variables frame, click Solve All Automatically.
The Variable Conflict - Solve All popup opens.

  2. Review the list of recommended changes, and then click OK.
The Solved icon IconSolved appears in the Conflicted Variables frame, and the OK button is enabled.
  3. To close the popup and continue with opening/capturing the Interaction, click OK.
